Ganley may run as Independent

FORMER Libertas leader Declan Ganley has refused to rule out running in the upcoming general election. Mr Ganley declared that he was bowing out of politics following the 2009 European election. But he has increasingly been seen to comment on political matters, and the rumour mill is rife that he will run as an Independent candidate in the Galway East constituency.
Mr Ganley failed to win a seat in the last European election, coming in behind Fine Gael's Jim Higgins, with 70,638 votes. He would be up against established politicians such as Fianna Fail's Michael Kitt and Fine Gael's Ciaran Cannon if he chooses to run.
